Catherine De Medici, Medicilerin gücü azaldığında Floransa'da dünyaya gelmişti. Neyseki kuzeni Papa VII. Clement sayesinde sonradan Fransa kralı olacak Henry (II) ile evlendirildi. Pek güzel değildi, ama topuklu ayakkabıları, korsesi ve parfümleri Fransa'da moda oldu. İlk 10 yıl hiç çocuğu olmadı, sonrasında 10 çocuğu oldu. Kral, jousting yaparken ölünce taht oğullarına (3) kaldı ama o hep gücü elinde tuttu. Büyü ve kara büyü ile ilgilendi, kahinlerle çalıştı. O dönem pek tutulmayan Nostradamus'a sahip çıktı. Protestanlara ibadet serbestisi sonrasında yaptığı tur sırasında Salon de Provence'e geldi (1564). Catherine De Medici was born in Florence when the power of the Medicis declined. Fortunately, thanks to her cousin Pope VII. Clement, he was married to Henry (II), who later became King of France. Nostradamus was not very popular at that time, she supported him. He came to Salon de Provence during a tour after Protestants was given freedom to worship (1564). The grave of Nostradamus, who died two years later, is in the church of Saint-Laurent Collegiate in the city.
