Miskolc'un en eski binası 13.yy'dan kalma Avas kilisesi. 1489'da Gotik tarza çevrilir. 1544'de Osmanlı'nın eline geçtiğinde yakılır. Protestan kilisesi olduğundan Katolik yönetici ormandan ağaç vermez ve 20 yıl çatısı kapatılamaz. 1567'de çan kulesi eklenir. Osmanlı döneminde Miskolc önemli bir merkez olur, buraya Türk yerleştirilmez. Osmanlı kaynaklarda Kenkuş olarak bilinir. İstanbul Yahudi meyhanelerinde Kenkuş şarabı bulunurdu.

Miskolc's the oldest building is the 13th century Avas church. In 1489 it was converted into Gothic style. Church was burned when the city was captured by the Ottoman Empire in 1544. Since it was a Protestant church, the roof could not be repaired and closed for 20 years because the Catholic ruler did not give trees from the forest. In 1567, the bell tower was added. During the Ottoman period, Miskolc became an important center, no Turks was inhabited there. It was known as Kenkuş in Ottoman sources. In the Jewish taverns of Istanbul, there was Kenkuş wine.
